Being in the entertainment business since 1969, I’ve learned that there’s no business like show business—and that a red-hot song can sell any product it connects with. As a songwriter, when the music and lyrics of Hot Sauce Baby came to me almost instantly, I knew it had the makings of a perfect jingle for a hot sauce company. After several failed attempts to connect with one of the biggest hot sauce brands in the world, a close confidant suggested, “Why don’t you create your own hot sauce flavor?” At first, I was lost—I had no idea how to develop a hot sauce recipe. Frustrated, I eventually drifted to sleep, only to have a vivid dream of myself in my kitchen mixing up a hot sauce. I woke up, rushed to my kitchen, and tried to recall the dream’s ingredients. Though I didn’t have everything on hand, I waited until 7:00 AM, drove to the nearest Kroger, and grabbed what I could remember.

Back home, I began experimenting, even adding ingredients my Japanese grandfather—a professional chef—used to put on hamburgers and rice. After carefully blending everything together, I took a taste and was blown away by the smell, consistency, and flavor. That was the moment I realized the power of combining music with a mouthwatering product. With the right national grocery partner and live performances across the country and the world, Thomas Kitchens could sing Hot Sauce Baby on stage, on the radio, on TV, and across social media—driving demand like never before. That’s how “It’s Hot Sauce Baby” was born: a deliciously hot, wildly versatile sauce that’s good on everything. Now, let’s fire it up!
